Staff Spotlight: Taylor Bellson
We are pleased to introduce Taylor Bellson, our Account Manager. Keep reading to learn more about her role, what she likes to do in her free time and how she connects to the programs we offer at United Way of Lake County (UWLC)!
When did you start working at UWLC?
My journey with UWLC began on April 25, 2022!
What is your title and role?
My title is Account Manager which allows me to work closely with organizations as they plan campaigns to get involved in the Lake County community. I also get the opportunity to work closely with our Women United group which is a wonderful way to get to know members of the community.
What made you want to be a part of this organization?
My experience in the past was education and as I got more into the profession, I came to realize that I would like for the community to tell me how they would like for me to help. When I found United Way of Lake County, I immediately saw my two passions overlapping as we work together to ensure the community has access to early childhood education resources and support for families.
Which of UWLC’s programs do you connect to most and why?
My favorite program is Kindergarten Countdown Camp because I love any opportunity to help in the classroom – especially as a reading buddy! When I was younger, I had a tough time with reading so getting the chance to make it a positive experience for another child is such an important piece of learning to me. I also love having the chance to work on crafts together from our Reading Buddy kit because it gives me additional time to get to talk to each student and share things we enjoyed about the book we read.
What is your favorite part of your job here?
I think having the opportunity to meet so many people that see the value and beauty in supporting early childhood education is my favorite part of my job. It is so incredible to feel inspired by those around you!
What kinds of things do you like to do with your time when you are not at work?
When I am not at work, I like to listen to podcasts and read books on my reading list. I also like to try new things and am currently learning to play the ukulele. When it is summertime, you can find me on the boat or working on a house project! During the winter I like to binge-watch tv shows and movies of all kinds. I’m always looking for recommendations!
