Staff Spotlight: Jessica Gomez
We are pleased to introduce Jessica Gomez, our Success By 6 Initiative Coordinator. Keep reading to learn more about her role, what she likes to do in her free time and how she connects to the programs we offer at United Way of Lake County (UWLC)!
When did you start working at UWLC?
My journey with UWLC began November 1, 2022.
What are your title and role?
My title is Success By 6 Initiative Coordinator. I am the contact person for our Early Learning Club and the teacher for our Better Together program. I work on distributing our Kindergarten Readiness Calendars throughout the community. In addition, I work closely with our partnered school districts and host Kindergarten Countdown Camps throughout Lake County.
What made you want to be a part of this organization?
United Way is a beautiful organization that helps our communities. I come from Waukegan Public Schools and have helped many families within the school district find resources. Becoming a part of this organization allows me to help people in other communities as well.
Which of UWLC’s programs do you connect to most and why?
211 is the program that I connect with the most because it’s here to help everyone in Lake County find the local resources they need.
What is your favorite part of your job here?
My favorite part is that I continue to teach. Teaching is my passion and I love interacting with families and children.
What kinds of things do you like to do with your time when you are not at work?
When I am not at work, I spend time with my family. We will bake, watch movies, or just hang out and play Lotería.
